His artworks remind Renaissance painting, characterised by Euclidean geometry, as well as traditional Sino-Japanese pictorial aesthetics, favouring a flat representation of landscapes and perspective. Modern harlequins anchored in architectural fictions, white clowns and ballet dancers coexist in pixelated landscapes reminiscent of video game aesthetics. This first monographic publication devoted to the work of Christian Hidaka looks back over his entire career (2002-2024) and presents a wide selection of his work.
