Robin Kinross works as a typographer and editor in London. In the 1970s he studied typography at the University of Reading, going on to do research there on Otto Neurath and Isotype. In 1980 he started the imprint Hyphen Press to republish Norman Potter’s What is a Designer. In the 1990s Hyphen began to publish books by typographers such as Jost Hochuli, Karel Martens, and Fred Smeijers, as well as Kinross’s own book Modern Typography. Since then Hyphen has expanded to publish more broadly on design and culture.
