Richard Hollis is a freelance graphic designer and writer. He has worked as printer, art editor and production manager in book and magazine publishing, and as teacher and lecturer. Studied art and typography in London. Taught lithography and design at the London College of Printing and Chelsea School of Art. In the early 1960s worked as a designer in Paris. For six years Senior Lecturer at the Central School of Art and Design in London. Books include Graphic Design: A Concise History (available in French as Graphisme au XXe siècle) and Swiss Graphic Design: The Origins and Growth of an International Style 1920-1965.
