Ricardo Roque is a research fellow at the Institute of Social Sciences, University of Lisbon. Currently, he is also an honorary associate in the Department of History, University of Sydney. He specializes in historical anthropology, science studies, the history of race, imperial history and postcolonial studies. He is author of Headhunting and Colonialism: Anthropology and the Circulation of Human Skulls in the Portuguese Empire, 1870-1930 (2010) and co-editor of Engaging Colonial Knowledge: Reading European Archives in World History (2012). Current research themes include colonial mimesis, racial sciences, materiality and anthropological classifications.
