Phillip Van den Bossche studied philosophy and art history in Brussels and Ghent, and attended the Curatorial Training Programme of De Appel in Amsterdam in 1996/97. He worked from 2001 as curator at the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven and has been director of Mu.ZEE in Ostend since 2007. In recent years he has curated exhibitions and published books on On Kawara, Manon de Boer, Koenraad Dedobbeleer, Rita McBride, Joe Scanlan, Frances Stark, Daan van Golden, Jos de Gruyter & Harald Theys, Tomma Abts and Vincent Fecteau. He has also written about Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven, Allen Ruppersberg, Bas Jan Ader and Ger van Elk in Los Angeles, among others for “In & Out of Amsterdam – travels in Conceptual Art 1960-1976” (MoMA, 2009). In 2012 he published the children’s book Het dierencarnaval (The animal carnival) with artworks from the collection of Mu.ZEE.
